Jimmy Page Accepts Iron Maiden Guitar

Jimmy Page made a surprise appearance at an Iron Maiden press conference in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, on Wednesday (January 17). No, the onetime Led Zeppelin guitarist isn't joining the heavy metal superstars--he was on hand at the Rock In Rio press event to accept an autographed guitar from Maiden. The members of the group signed a Fender Stratocaster that will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to Casa Jimmy, the charity Page and his Brazilian-born wife Ximena operate that benefits homeless young people, according to Britain's New Musical Express. Iron Maiden played the festival Friday night (January 19). At the press conference, Iron Maiden lead singer Bruce Dickinson joked, "We're giving you just what you don't need, Jimmy--another guitar!" For his part, a humbled Page said, "This is a very special occasion for me. It's great to be able to help other people." -- Bruce Simon, New York (launch.com)
