Ringo's New Album Is About Peace & Love

The underlying theme of Ringo Starr’s new album, Ringo Rama, is peace and love. In fact, the back cover art features a sculpture of a hand making the peace sign on a base that reads "Peace & Love."
Starr is well aware of what's going on in Iraq and Afghanistan, but he said it's out of his hands and he can only do what he does. "In many places of the world, we're in a time of peace and love," Starr said. "But in some places of the world, right now, there's a lot of violence [that's] gonna happen. We can only do our part, and my part is peace and love."
Ringo Rama, with guest appearances from Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, Willie Nelson, and Shawn Colvin, comes out Tuesday (March 25).
Starr kicks off the 2003 edition of his All-Starr Band tour on July 24 in Rama, Ontario. This year's band features returning drummer Sheila E. along with former Babys/Bad English frontman John Waite on bass and vocals, former Men At Work frontman Colin Hay on guitar and vocals, former Ace/Squeeze/Mike & The Mechanics singer-keyboardist Paul Carrack, and bandleader Mark Rivera on saxophone and other instruments.
