Rolling Stones Add Four Shows

The Rolling Stones have added four arena dates to the U.K. and Irish leg of their current Licks world tour, with shows in Glasgow, London, Manchester and Dublin.
The new London show is a second date at Wembley Arena, which will come more than two weeks after the first. The Dublin show marks the Stones' first concert in Ireland since 1982.
The band's European tour begins on June 4 with three dates in Munich. The Stones will visit Italy, Austria, Spain, France, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands before arriving in the U.K. in August.
The new shows, for which tickets will go on sale on Friday (May 2), are at Glasgow SECC (Sept. 1), the Manchester Evening News Arena (Sept. 5), the Point in Dublin (Sept. 9), and Wembley Arena (Sept. 14). The extra dates bring the total number of concerts on the European leg to 38.
Opening acts for the newly added shows have not been announced. The Stones have tapped an eclectic list of artists to open their European shows, including AC/DC (Germany), The Pretenders (Germany), ZZ Top (Finland), the Cranberries (Germany, Italy), Counting Crows (Italy), Stereophonics (France), and Starsailor (England, the Netherlands).
Last month, the group was forced to cancel its Hong Kong and China shows due to the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in the region. A show in Bangkok was canceled when part of the band and its entire production crew was unable to travel due to mechanical failure of the Stones' tour plane. The band hopes to reschedule all of the shows. By Paul Sexton, LONDON, Reuters/Billboard
