Phil Collins To Kick Of Farewell Tour
Phil Collins will kick off his First Final Farewell Tour in June 2004.
Whether the run will actually be the last for the former Genesis member or its moniker is a tongue-in-cheek comment similar to the Eagles' Farewell 1 outing earlier this year, is unknown. According to an itinerary on Collins' official Web site, dates get underway June 6 in Munich. Currently, only European stops are scheduled, including a June 20 headlining performance at Belgium's Werchter Rock Classic Festival. Further worldwide dates are expected. Collins last launched a solo tour in 1998, backed by a 19-piece big band. The artist recently performed at the New York premiere of the animated Disney film "Brother Bear." He wrote several songs for the film's soundtrack and collaborated on its score.
Collins' last solo album was the November 2002 Atlantic release "Testify," which debuted at No. 30 on The Billboard 200. The set spawned the singles "Can't Stop Loving You" and "Come With Me (Lullaby)." The former topped Billboard's Adult Contemporary airplay chart, while the latter reached No. 16.
