Olympic Torch arrives in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties
Perry-in-the-Morning and Octogirl Kristi (pictured with Octopus listener Carl) were on hand Wednesday morning to hand out free American flags and stickers, as the Olympic Torch was carried to Plaza Park in downtown Oxnard. Oxnard residents Denise Hamilton and David Rodela, as well as city employee Richard Madrid, were among several Ventura County residents who carried the torch one-fifth of a mile before passing it to the next torchbearer. The torch then proceeded to Ventura and Santa Barbara, on its 113,500 mile trip through 46 states to its destination in Salt Lake City for the 2002 Winter Olympics.
