Queen Guitarist Brian May Record With Yardbirds
The Yardbirds are in the midst of recording a new album, and they've recruited some special guests for the project. Queen singer-guitarist Brian May "has agreed with (Yardbirds drummer) Jim McCarty that he will play a track on their upcoming record," according to a post on Queen's website ( queenonline.com).
Yardbirds guitarist and band manager Chris Dreja told LAUNCH that the group is going back into the studio in London this week for more recording sessions.
McCarty's site ( jimmccarty.co.uk) has a bit more information about the project: "The new Yardbirds' recording is now 80 percent finished. We have some more sessions to do in London before mixing, and it will be out hopefully in March 2003...In California, we laid down six news songs to go along with the old songs featuring the guest players. So far there's been three eminent guest performances which all sound great!"
There's no word yet on who the other "eminent guests" are, nor what label the album will be released on. (launch.com)
